The January regular meeting of the Mobile Writers Guild was held at the West Mobile Regional Library and called to order by Guild President, Carrie Cox.  Approximately 30 people were in attendance.

Members and guests were welcomed by Carrie Cox.  April Higgenbotham presented the financial report and it was approved as presented.  Recognition was made of member achievements including Janet Nodar who has an collection of short stories being published, Stephanie Lawton who has her first novel scheduled for publication this summer by Inkspell Press, and Joyce Scarborough who has just finished her fourth novel, Pennance.

Other things discussed were the possibility of a member spotlight for the newsletter, assisting Baldwin county writer Nolan White whose home burned, and Open Mic.  Our next meeting will be a Speed Critique.  Also brought to member’s attention were registration for the March 3rd workshop, submissions for the young authors anthology, and Dee Jordan is extending the deadline to March 1st for submissions for her horse anthology.  The featured speaker for the night was Jaime Jennings who spoke on manga and graphic novels.
